Australia pushes back start date for remote work legislation

Australia has pushed the implementation of its pioneering work-from-home law from September 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027, due to pushback from business organizations. The proposed rules would grant a legal entitlement to remote work for qualifying full-time, part-time, and consistent casual staff. Under the plan, workers whose roles are suitable for off-site performance would be permitted to work remotely for two days each week.
