Australia plans to give users control over social media algorithms
New draft legislation set to be introduced this week in Australia may force social media companies to allow users to disable personalised algorithms. These proposed regulations would give people the choice to either stick with AI-generated content feeds or turn them off to view posts from followed accounts in a simple chronological order. Tech firms that do not follow these rules could be hit with fines reaching as high as $72 million.
