Archaeologists discover 24 golden tongues inside 18 Egyptian tombs
In an Egyptian town near the Mediterranean coast, researchers have uncovered 24 gold tongues across 18 historic burial sites. It is believed these items were placed inside the mouths of the mummified remains. Ancient Egyptians held the belief that these golden tongues would enable the dead to speak in the afterlife. Similar gold tongue artifacts have been unearthed in mummies at other historical locations throughout Egypt.
