Researchers have uncovered 241 tiny pieces of amber buried within a coal seam in the Xinjiang region of China, estimated to be around 385 million years old. According to the journal Science Advances, this discovery marks the oldest chemically confirmed amber ever found, surpassing the previous record by approximately 65 million years. Experts noted that the resin originated from an unknown prehistoric plant that existed during the Middle Devonian period.
