Anak Krakatau volcano in Indonesia erupts, sending ash 50,000 feet high

On Saturday, Indonesia's Anak Krakatau volcano experienced an eruption, which led to flight cancellations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. According to the BMKG, the country's meteorological agency, volcanic ash climbed to 20,000 feet (6,000 meters) toward the Java region. Meanwhile, a plume reached an altitude of 50,000 feet (15,000 meters) over the Sumatra side and sections of Banten province in Java.
