53 rescued after ferry with 116 passengers goes down off Guyana coast
A passenger ferry transporting 116 individuals went down off the northern coast of Guyana on Saturday evening. According to Minister Juan Edghill, 53 people have been pulled to safety thus far. Officials have stated that there are no confirmed fatalities at this time and medical personnel have been dispatched to provide care to those who survived. The vessel was reportedly outfitted with 250 life vests, six inflatable liferafts, and two rigid liferafts.
