Zero locker thefts recorded at public sector banks this fiscal year
Official government figures indicate that public sector banks have seen no incidents of locker theft during the 2025-26 financial year, marking a first in five years. Over the previous four-year period from FY2021-22 to FY2024-25, there were 40 reported thefts across 12 public sector banks, with three-quarters of these incidents taking place in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. The Central Bank of India and the Bank of India recorded the most frequent occurrences, with 14 cases reported by each institution.
