World Zoonoses Day focuses on risks of animal-to-human infections
Marked annually on July 6, World Zoonoses Day draws attention to the rising danger of zoonotic illnesses, which are infections transmitted from animals to people. Since approximately 75% of new infectious diseases stem from animals, specialists are calling for improved monitoring, ethical animal care, conservation of wildlife, and the adoption of a One Health strategy to mitigate the risk of upcoming outbreaks and global pandemics.
