West Bengal: BJP MLA renames road from Netaji to Syama Prasad Mookerjee, sparks controversy
A political dispute has broken out in the Birbhum district of West Bengal following a decision by a BJP MLA to rename a road that previously honored Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The street, located in Ward No. 4 of the Rampurhat Municipality, now bears the name of Jana Sangh founder Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The TMC has condemned the action, alleging that the BJP is trying to politicize respected Bengali icons and wipe out historical legacy.
