Authorities have confirmed that a stretch of forest land in Kasol, Himachal Pradesh, which sits within the environmentally fragile Parvati Valley, has been fully cleaned up. The area had previously been utilized for the collection and sorting of local municipal trash. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) initiated a suo motu case this past June after footage of massive garbage piles on the forest floor circulated widely online. An NGO had already launched waste processing efforts at the site in May.
