Visually impaired developer creates free AI app for navigation
Mark Sedky, an Egyptian programmer who is blind, has launched ScribeMe. This AI-driven application provides audio descriptions to assist those with vision loss in navigating their environment. The tool is compatible with smartphone cameras as well as Meta smart glasses, currently supports approximately 20 languages, and is utilized across 140 nations. Sedky, who learned to code following his vision loss, built the software to address common accessibility hurdles.
