Varsha Aglawe makes history as GSI's first female director in 176 years
On Friday, Varsha Ashok Aglawe took over as the first woman to lead the Geological Survey of India since its establishment 176 years ago. A palaeontologist with more than 30 years of professional experience, Aglawe has replaced Asit Saha to become the 54th director general. Throughout her tenure at the GSI, she has played a key role in global research projects and served in various significant scientific and management capacities.
