Uttarakhand halts tree cutting for road project following public outcry

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami announced that the removal of trees for the planned Dehradun–Rishikesh 4/6-lane highway project is on hold until all parties involved reach an agreement. The plan to cut down more than 4,000 trees had triggered significant local protests. According to the CM's office, the project work was being conducted in line with High Court orders.
