Uttarakhand dissolves Madrasa Board, first state to take the step

Uttarakhand has officially become the first Indian state to shut down its statutory Madrasa Board, replacing it with the newly formed Uttarakhand State Authority for Minority Education (USAME). At present, there are 452 registered madrasas in the state, with authorities having recently closed over 200 of them.
