US students create sensor-equipped cap to assist the visually impaired

A group of students and graduates from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the US has designed a special cap that enables those with vision loss to move around independently, removing the need for canes or service animals. By utilizing built-in sensors, the headwear delivers haptic vibrations to alert wearers to nearby objects. Although the team initially designed the technology as a pair of glasses, they transitioned to a hat following suggestions from their early test users.
