US seeks extradition of Punjab cop accused of $400,000 extortion from LA family
Federal prosecutors in the US have filed charges against Punjab Police officer Gurinderjit Singh Nagra. He is accused of extorting $400,000 (roughly ₹3.80 crore) from a family living in Los Angeles by threatening to frame their relatives in India for murder. Authorities claim Nagra collaborated with the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang and intend to pursue his extradition. At the time of the incident, he served as the SHO of the Tanda police station in Hoshiarpur.
