US removes sanctions on Fly Baghdad and two planes tied to Iran's IRGC
The US Treasury Department has withdrawn counter-terrorism penalties against Iraq's Fly Baghdad Airlines and a pair of aircraft previously sanctioned for their connections to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Despite this move, the airline's proprietor, Basheer Abdulkadhim Alwan al-Shabbani, remains subject to sanctions. This decision follows ongoing discussions between the United States and Iran aimed at reaching an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
