US places sanctions on Indian and Chinese firms over ties to Iran's Mahan Air
The United States has issued new sanctions against six individuals and companies based in India, China, Russia, and Iran. Washington claims these parties offered financial, commercial, and logistical assistance to Mahan Air, an Iranian airline already under US sanctions. According to the US, Mahan Air functions as a transport division for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and has been utilized to ferry military personnel and weaponry.
