US gives green light to satellite mirror project for nighttime sunlight
The Federal Communications Commission in the US has cleared California startup Reflect Orbital to move forward with Earendil-1. This satellite will feature a massive mirror designed to see if sunlight can be bounced back to the ground during nighttime hours. The mission is set to head into low Earth orbit later this year, with the mirror capable of casting light over a span of roughly 5 square kilometres on the planet's surface.
