US Commerce Secretary Lutnick expresses regret over Iran war death remarks
US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has issued an apology after claiming that no Americans had lost their lives in the conflict with Iran. During an earlier interview, he stated, "I think the way the president (Donald Trump) is handling Iran... There haven't been American deaths. It's really just an economic choke-out." He later clarified his comments, admitting, "I misspoke... Eighteen members of our military have died... I was thinking about the Venezuelan military operation."
