UN report flags Mumbai's threat of permanent flooding

Mumbai is one of several major cities in South Asia threatened by rising sea levels that could lead to permanent flooding. According to a United Nations report, more than 14 million residents living in low-lying delta regions across South Asia, Mumbai included, are in danger of being displaced as their homes face the risk of being permanently submerged. Previously, the Mumbai Climate Action Plan indicated that as much as 80% of the city's island territory could be underwater by the year 2050.
