Ukraine deploys vintage 1970s missiles to counter Russian drones
Ukraine has started utilizing the R-60, an air-to-air missile from the Soviet period, to shoot down Russian S8000 Banderol missiles. Due to the depletion of modern R-73 missile supplies following prolonged fighting, Kyiv has been compelled to reactivate the outdated 1970s-era R-60 units. These missiles are now being deployed by Ukraine to target cruise missiles and drones, with some units being modified for use in ground-based air defense operations.
