Trump promises to take Syria off terrorism sponsor list

While attending the NATO Summit in Turkiye, US President Donald Trump met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and announced his intention to delist Syria as a state sponsor of terrorism. Gesturing toward al-Sharaa, Trump remarked, "Why wouldn't I? He's done a great job." The US previously lifted terrorist sanctions against al-Sharaa last year.
