Trump intervenes to overturn Balogun's World Cup suspension
FIFA has lifted the one-game World Cup ban on American forward Folarin Balogun following efforts by US President Donald Trump. Balogun, who was born in Brooklyn to Nigerian parents and grew up in England, plays for the USA thanks to birthright citizenship laws. Previously, Trump had sought to eliminate automatic citizenship for children born in the US to non-citizen parents, the very policy that granted Balogun his American status.
