The current location of the most distant human-made spacecraft
Launched nearly 49 years ago on September 5, 1977, NASA's Voyager 1 continues its journey through interstellar space, holding the record as the object created by humans that is furthest from our planet. The probe is nearing a distance of 25.902 billion km—or one light-day—from Earth, a mark it is expected to hit this November. According to NASA, Voyager 1 entered interstellar space back in August 2012 and is still functioning today.
