Telegram sends response to Indian government over username feature

Both companies' responses are currently being evaluated by officials. The government expressed worry that the username system—which allows people to message others without revealing their phone numbers—might lead to a rise in phishing, impersonation, and fraudulent activities. Authorities have also requested comparable explanations from Signal.
