Tata Power has scrapped its proposal to run a secondary power distribution grid in Karnataka, bowing to pressure from the state government, labor unions, and local utility providers. The electricity regulatory body was flooded with roughly 20 lakh complaints regarding the potential entry of a private firm. State-owned distribution companies contended that allowing a parallel network would threaten the financial health and future stability of current ESCOMs.
