Taco Bell lettuce identified as source of US intestinal illness outbreak
Authorities in the US have connected an outbreak of cyclosporiasis to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell locations. This intestinal infection is known for triggering severe, explosive diarrhea. The Food and Drug Administration determined that the tainted produce came from a Mexican supplier that provided lettuce to Taco Bell restaurants across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. In response, Taco Bell confirmed that it has stopped using lettuce from that supplier for the foreseeable future.
