Supreme Court suggests linking fuel sales to vehicle insurance

To ensure that mandatory third-party motor insurance is strictly followed, the Supreme Court has suggested that fuel stations should only provide petrol or diesel to vehicles that have valid insurance. The plan would mean drivers cannot refuel their cars unless their insurance policy is active. The court has asked the Road Transport Ministry and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India to work together on creating a pilot project for this initiative.
