Supreme Court sets up committee to investigate police brutality against students

The Supreme Court has restructured a five-member high-level inquiry committee to look into claims that police and paramilitary units used disproportionate force on students during recent demonstrations. The panel will be led by retired Supreme Court judge Justice R Subhash Reddy. The investigation will cover the deployment of tear gas, lathi charges, electric batons, and pellet guns, along with reports of violence directed at female protesters.
