During the trailer release of the movie 'Batwara 1947', actor Sunny Deol became visibly teary-eyed when director Rajkumar Santoshi spoke about his father, Dharmendra. Rajkumar shared, "Dharmendra ji gave his full blessings to this project... He was deeply moved when he heard the script." The director further noted, "I think 'Batwara 1947' was the final film that Dharmendra ji saw."
