Study finds 95% of listed Indian companies employ dark patterns

A report from LocalCircles reveals that more than 95% of Indian companies listed on the stock exchange use 'dark patterns' in their online services. These tactics can deceive customers when they are making purchases, signing up for subscriptions, or requesting refunds. The study identified a small group of companies, including Meesho, Jockey, Hamleys, Eco Mobility, and EaseMyTrip, as being free from these manipulative practices. Out of 23 firms evaluated, only seven stated they were clear of dark patterns following their own internal audits.
