Strategic significance of the India-Indonesia Sabang port project

India and Indonesia have reached an agreement to collaborate on the development of Sabang port. This project is set to strengthen India's capacity to protect vital maritime routes and challenge China's expanding presence across the Indo-Pacific. Located in close proximity to the Strait of Malacca and only 160 km away from India’s Great Nicobar Island Project, this deepwater facility is capable of accommodating naval ships and submarines, which will significantly expand India's maritime influence in the area.
