Sri Lankan cricket coach passes away following dispute with player; teenager arrested
Sumith Fernando, a cricket coach in Sri Lanka, has died several days after a confrontation with a 17-year-old athlete at the Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club in Colombo. According to authorities, the argument started when the team discovered there was no drinking water available during their practice session. The young player has been taken into custody for allegedly attacking Fernando and is currently being held in probationary care. Fernando was previously a mentor to former Sri Lankan national captain Kusal Mendis.
