Sri Lanka detains 9 Indian fishermen for crossing maritime boundary

On Thursday, the Sri Lankan Navy took nine Indian fishermen into custody and confiscated their vessels for supposedly fishing in prohibited waters. These individuals were among a fleet of 297 boats that departed from Rameswaram Port on Wednesday with official permits. This incident follows the detention of 11 other fishermen by Sri Lankan authorities on August 6.
