Space photographer spots Roman telescope moving through the sky

Shortly after its August 30 launch, astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy managed to record NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope as it appeared like a small, shifting speck in a timelapse video of the night sky. The telescope is currently on a 1.6 million km journey toward the Sun-Earth L2 Lagrange point. Once it arrives, the observatory will focus on researching exoplanets, galaxies, dark energy, and dark matter. NASA expects the Roman telescope to begin sending back its initial pictures by the start of 2027.
