Singapore MP questions Air India's request for $1.5 billion from SIA and Tata

Singaporean lawmaker Kenneth Tiong has voiced disapproval over reports that Air India is looking for $1.5 billion in funding from its parent companies, Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines (SIA), amid ongoing financial losses. Tiong pointed out that since Temasek, which is backed by the Singapore government, holds a stake in SIA, the move could effectively mean using taxpayer funds from Singapore to support Air India. He stated firmly that nobody, especially not the people of Singapore, is obligated to sustain Air India.
