Siddhivinayak Temple Trust: Weekly donation income triples following arrests in theft case
In April, eight trustees of the Shri Siddhivinayak Ganpati Temple Trust in Mumbai sent a letter to Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, claiming the temple potentially lost roughly ₹18 crore annually because of stolen donations. They noted that weekly donations were under ₹50 lakh prior to the arrest of nine staff members involved in the theft. Since then, the amount gathered each Wednesday has climbed to approximately ₹1.5 crore.
