SEBI report: Anchor investors offload 50% of IPO shares in one year
A SEBI analysis of 242 IPOs launched from April 2022 to October 2025 reveals that anchor investors sold roughly half of their total allotted shares within a year. Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) were identified as the primary sellers. The study noted that while many anchors sell, they generally avoid a rapid exit as soon as the mandatory lock-in period concludes. Additionally, the research indicated that the size of the issue plays a significant role in how anchor investors manage their holdings.
