Scrolling isn't a real break, according to Nature study
Cognitive neuroscientist Sahar Yousef referenced a 2024 study published in Nature that contrasted taking no break with going for an outdoor walk and scrolling on a phone. Yousef explained that scrolling is "pretty much the same as not taking a break" and does not effectively restore energy levels. She noted that individuals who open apps like TikTok when they are exhausted might be failing to get the mental recovery their brains truly require.
