SC sets aside BJP MLC's 6-vote victory in Karnataka, names Congress rival winner
The Supreme Court has set aside the 2021 election of BJP leader MK Pranesh to the Karnataka Legislative Council, declaring Congress candidate AV Gayathri Shanthegowda as the actual winner. Pranesh had previously secured the Chikkamagaluru Local Authorities' seat by a margin of six votes. Gayathri contested this outcome, claiming that 12 nominated town panchayat members, who did not have voting rights, were permitted to cast their votes.
