SC orders release of NEET protesters, excludes those with criminal history
The Supreme Court has directed authorities to release all individuals held in custody following demonstrations against the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, provided they do not have a criminal background. Additionally, the bench has sent notices to the Central government and the chief secretaries of Delhi, Maharashtra, Bihar, Assam, Kerala, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh regarding the unrest during these protests. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on August 6.
