SC Judge: 0.1% of Kumbh budget could have kept 100-125 Marathi schools open
Supreme Court Justice Prasanna B Varale has expressed concern regarding the condition of state-run schools in Maharashtra, highlighting issues like school shutdowns and a shortage of essential amenities. He remarked that just 0.1% of the funds spent on the Nashik Kumbh Mela would have been enough to prevent 100 to 125 Marathi-medium schools from shutting their doors. He further pointed out that the budget earmarked for the Kumbh Mela ranges between ₹32,000 crore and ₹34,000 crore.
