Sanjay Ghemawat departs Google after 27 years to launch AI startup
After a tenure of 27 years, Indian-American computer scientist Sanjay Ghemawat is moving on from Google. As a primary architect behind the company's core infrastructure, he is now teaming up with former Google Chief Scientist Jeff Dean to establish an AI startup called Discovery Loop. Ghemawat, who spent his childhood in Kota, completed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University in 1987 before obtaining his PhD from MIT in 1995. During his time at Google, he was instrumental in developing MapReduce and the Google File System.
