RTI reveals over 8.23 lakh central government positions are currently vacant
An RTI filing has disclosed that more than 8.23 lakh sanctioned civilian roles within the central government remain unfilled. As of March 1, 2024, the total number of staff employed stood at 30,99,556, despite a sanctioned capacity of 39,23,212. This indicates that over 20% of the jobs authorized by the government are currently unoccupied.
