RTI data shows Rajya Sabha MPs cost over ₹50 lakh each annually
An RTI response has disclosed that more than ₹262 crore was utilized for the salaries, travel, and various allowances of Rajya Sabha members over the previous two financial years, averaging over ₹50 lakh per MP annually. Total spending climbed from ₹98 crore in FY25 to ₹163 crore in FY26, a figure that covers medical costs, office operations, and travel. Specifically, travel and allowances accounted for more than ₹151 crore of the total expenditure.
