Research suggests female mammoths were preferred targets for ancient hunters
According to a study featured in 'Current Biology', prehistoric humans targeted female mammoths more frequently because they were smaller, traveled in groups, and followed reliable paths. The findings revealed that 70% of the mammoth remains discovered at ancient settlement sites were female. Experts noted that modern male elephants exhibit similar behavior, as they tend to be more independent and wander over larger areas.
