Research shows monsoon rainfall improves groundwater in Palghar

A study conducted by BARC and HBNI in the Palghar region of Maharashtra has revealed that monsoon showers play a key role in improving groundwater quality by washing away accumulated minerals and salt. According to the findings, the rains successfully transition 80% of the water that was previously unsafe for consumption into the potable category. Despite this, experts remain worried about the impact of industrial waste and rising sea levels, as seawater encroachment and evaporation continue to cause elevated mineral concentrations.
