Report: India seeks ₹8,400-crore steel quota in UK FTA

India has requested a steel quota worth $900-million (over ₹8,400-crore) as part of its free trade agreement (FTA) with the UK, set for 2025, The Indian Express reported. This move follows concerns from the Indian steel industry, which stated that quotas beginning in July could limit current levels of Indian steel exports, even with the FTA. India is reportedly considering restricting Scotch whisky imports as a retaliatory measure.
