Report: India, Japan May Trade Directly in Yen and Rupee

A report from Nikkei Asia states that India and Japan intend to conduct their two-way trade transactions directly using the yen and rupee, rather than the US dollar. This approach, the report noted, is expected to lower foreign exchange conversion expenses and reduce settlement durations. The report also indicated that this decision might be announced in a joint statement from both countries during the upcoming visit of Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to India.
